Homeschool graduates Amber EuDaly Eames and Rachael EuDaly Gravitt began dancing in 1984 under Cynthia Monaco. They were part of Heart of America Youth Ballet, dancing such roles as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cinderella. They began their homeschool dance program in 1996, following requests from fellow homeschoolers. The program is unique in Kansas City, offering classes in the afternoons, at discounted rates, and with a parent-inclusive “open door policy.”
Amber and Rachael’s dance experience includes Ballet Magnificat’s Summer Program in Jackson, Mississippi; a personal invitation to the Joffrey Ballet Summer Program in San Antonio, Texas; and extensive training in UMKC’s Dance Division. They have both performed lead roles and taught workshops throughout the United States and Canada with professional dance company Storling Dance Theater. In summer 2006, Amber and Rachael were featured soloists in the production Time/Still/Eternal by project-based, professional dance company Dance Venture, under the artistic direction of Amy Meyers Obregon. Amber has also enjoyed being a part of Rachel Plante EuDaly’s Kansas City Movement.
Amber and Rachael have produced, choreographed, and directed the Homeschool Dance Program in The Creation of Narnia, The Snow Queen, Hinds Feet on High Places, A Wrinkle in Time, Rigoletto, The Velveteen Rabbit, Helen Keller, and most recently Till We Have Faces in 2016. Each experience has inspired them to continue exploring with their students new ways to tell stories through dance.
